Indoor swimming pools often benefit from using ducted ventilation systems because they provide better protection for the building, reduce the risk of condensation, improve air quality (through the use of fresh air units), and create a more pleasant environment for bathers.
In contrast, wall-mounted dehumidifiers only remove moisture and recirculate the same stale air. This can lead to problems with pool chemistry and the presence of free chlorine in the air, which can cause a pungent smell and be corrosive. For this reason, it is generally recommended to only use wall-mounted dehumidifiers in combination with a fresh air ventilation unit for lightly used pools. High usage commercial pools may also experience reliability issues with this type of equipment.
